Shoalhaven Heads Public School enjoys a strong and active parents and citizens association (P&C).
The P&C successfully supports and enriches the quality education of our students through:
- the provision of significant funding for additional teaching resources
- the provision of funding for sporting equipment and classroom improvements
- operating, with the support of volunteers, the school canteen, uniform shop and school banking
- participation in school decision making processes
- organising and promoting social events for students and the broader school community
- the maintenance and ongoing improvement of the School's Edible Garden.
The P&C conducts fundraising activities that also contribute greatly to the student and parent social calendar: the Mother's and Father' Day stalls, the Spring Fair (a joint event with the local pre-school), Trivia Nights, children and adult discos, farewells, Special Food days, raffles and cake stalls.
The P&C is also responsible for running the Canteen and Uniform Shop, both as a service to parents and students but also as an additional source of income to be reinvested back into the school.
These activities are only possible with the continued support of parents and community members. Parents and community members support the P&C in a variety of ways:
- Volunteering in the canteen, uniform shop or edible garden
- Volunteering at P&C organised events
- Taking up positions on the P&C Executive or sub-committees
- Donating gifts, prizes or supplies to P&C activities
- Attending P&C events.
How does the P&C work
The P&C meets twice a term, usually on the Monday evening of the 4th and 8th week of term, at 7pm in the School Staffroom.
The P&C Executive, Principal and many P&C members attend, and all parents and citizens are welcome to come and make suggestions, share ideas, raise concerns and hear more about the issues and events that are engaging the P&C and school.
P&C meetings are advertised in advance in the school newsletter.
